Defense is one of the most important aspects of any country. When it comes to defense, Air defense, based on Fighter planes have equal importance to other fields. The dependence of Air Defense is not only on accomplished pilots, but also on the availability of the best air crafts and fighter jets. Today we will be looking at the top five advanced fighter jet planes of all time!

1:Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II.

The jet has been designed by Lockhead Martin Aeronautics. The jet took its first flight at 15 December 2006.

The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a USA made, single-engine, single seated, all-weather stealth combat aircraft. It is designed to perform, not only strike, but also the air superiority missions. It is also dedicated to provide various functions as intelligence, electronic warfare, reconnaissance capabilities and surveillance.

The F-35B was introduced to U.S. Marine Corps, for service in July 2015, and in august 2016, F-35A to U.S. Air Force and in February 2019, the U.S. Navy was equipped with the F-35C . In 2018, the Israeli Air Force, used the F-35 in combat missions. The U.S has planned to invest in about 2,456 F-35s till 2044, which will be the main representation of the crewed tactical air power of the U.S, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force for up coming decades. The aircraft are expected to operate till the end of 2070.

2: Lockheed Martin / Boeing F-22 Raptor

he Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is another single-seat yet twin-engine equipped, all-weather stealth tactical fighter jet, which has been developed and designed for the United States Air Force. The jet was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but it also has capabilities such as, signal intelligence, electronic warfare and ground attack. Most of the F-22’s air frame and weapons were built by, Lockheed Martin. They also performed the final assembly. The wings, avionics integration, training systems and  avionics integrations were provided by Boeing.

3: Chengdu J-20

This Chinese jet, also known as the Mighty Dragon, is also another twin engine, single seated, fifth generation, all weather stealth air craft. The air craft was designed especially for the  People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) by Chengdu Aerospace Corporation. The jet took its very first flight in 2011. One interesting feature of this jet is, high instability and canard design. The canard design, as compared to the old delta wing design, is responsible for providing, exceptional supersonic performance, transonic turn performance, excellent supersonic and improved short-field landing performance.

The Chengdu J-20 is one of the best fifth generation aircrafts designed by China. The first combating unit, which consisted of these jets was formed in 2018.

4: Eurofighter Typhoon

The Eurofighter Typhoon is another canard–delta wing, twin engine, multirole fighter jet. The Typhoon was meant to be designed as an air superiority fighter originally. The jet is manufactured by,  Leonardo and Airbus, BAE Systems.

The aircraft’s was basically started in 1983 with the Future European Fighter Aircraft program, a multinational collaboration among the Italy, Spain, Germany, France and UK.

The Eurofighter Typhoon is considered to be a highly agile aircraft, dedicated to be a supremely effective in fights and combat. The new updates on the aircraft have led to better equipment, in order to undertake air-to-surface strike missions. It also has been made compatible with different missiles and equipment, including Brimstone missiles and Storm Shadows.

5: Sukhoi Su-57

The Russian designed, single seated, twin engine, fifth generation Jet was developed in 2002. The main job for this air craft was, attack operations and air superiority. The jet was designed by the Russian company PAK FA (Perspektivny Aviatsionny Kompleks Frontovoy Aviatsii). The jet is considered to be the first Russian air craft, equipped with stealth technology.

.It took its first flight in 2010. The fighter is designed to have supercruise, stealth, and much more advanced avionics, so that it can overcome not only the former generation fighter air crafts, but also the Naval and ground defense. The MiG-29 and Su-27 are known to be succeeded by the Su-57 in the Russian Air Force.
